What is their experience with Benefit Auctions?
Do they have a list of clients and referrals to show you?
Do they know how to properly conduct a “Fund A Need” or special appeal?
Will the auctioneer meet and consult with you? If not, you’re losing money.
Ask if they are a BAS. A designated Benefit Auctioneer Specialist by the NAA.
BAS designates on average raise twice as much money as non BAS auctioneers.
What should you expect from a Professional Benefit Auctioneer?
Professionalism, Results, Extraordinary Service, Passion and dedication to your Cause. Uniquely trained to achieve Maximum dollar results.
Consulting from start to finish. (BAS thinks out of the box with new ideas)
Not all auctioneers are the same. Only 1% of all auctioneers are Benefit Auctioneer Specialist’s. The reason you want a BAS is that they focus on fundraising auctions, which takes a different mindset. Engaging an audience of donors and Nonprofit supporters requires a unique approach that will connect them with a higher cause.
Several ways the Auctioneer is compensated:
1. Flat Fee- a fee that is set by the auctioneer for consulting and conducting the auction for the event.
2. Incentive Plan. The incentives beyond the flat fee (1-10%) help to motivate the charity auctioneer to maximize the revenues received at your fundraising auction.
3. Portion Of The Earnings Plan. A certain percentage of the Benefit auction will go to cover the cost of the Benefit Auctioneer Specialist and consulting.
4. Buyer’s Premium option, this is no charge to the not-for-profit organization, Buyers premium is paid by the winning bidder of the item.
5. An additional 5-10% is added on to the live auction items at check out. This must be spelled out in the program and at check in. This is not used often with Benefit Gala’s.
